TNNA June 2008 Show (The National Needlework Arts
Association) - WOW!
Karen and Helen just arrived home from Columbus, Ohio. They had the opportunity to see all the new yarns,
patterns, books, bags and notions coming out on the
market this fall. We are really excited to announce that Fresh Purls will
be carrying
Blue Sky Alpaca yarn and patterns – it
should be here within the next two weeks. The new Schulana book from Skacel is loaded with
beautiful fall sweaters can't wait for this book to
arrive and the yarn too! Shibui has a new sock yarn that Cat Borhdi personally
suggested to us and let us know you'll love knitting
with it – should be here just in time for fall. There are leather knitting bags by
Stirling that will be
coming and pewter shawl pins and buttons from
Annie Adams.
Namaste has added a new design and color to their
Cali Collection, Peacock Blue – of course we ordered
some bags in the new color! Our own Helen had one of
her designs featured in the Fashion Show, a Sheep Shop
sweater made from Sheep One – we'll have the pattern in
time for fall! We stopped by
Koigu – and it looks like our order may
ship sometime in July - we will be carrying the KPPM and
Kersti – we can't wait for this great yarn to arrive. There were so many great things we saw – hard to list
everything – what fun and we have great new products
coming soon!
WWKIP – World Wide Knit In Public Day – Saturday, June
14th! Stop by and sit outside and knit for
WWKIP – we will
have cold drinks and some chairs, bring your own if you
can! Noon – 4:30pm.
Yarn Stash Swap – Thursday, June 26th 5 - 7pm Lets all get ready for a YARN STASH SWAP. We know you
have a small (ok, possibly large) yarn stash tucked away
(hidden) somewhere in your home. Here is an opportunity
to either swap some of your yarn for "new" yarn and/or
reduce your yarn stash. This is a fun, free event on
Thursday, June 26th from 5pm to 7pm. All the yarn that
is not swapped will be used as donations for our Needed
Knits Group which starts on July 10th at 5:30pm. We hope
to see you at both of these exciting events.
Needed Knits We are very excited to launch our first Charity Knitting
Group. We will be meeting every Thursday for one hour to
make Hope Hats for Adults and Children in need of
warmth, care and hope. Fresh Purls will be providing the
yarn, most of which will come from the skeins not
swapped during our Yarn Stash Swap on June 26th. All
knitters (new and experienced are welcome, just bring
your needles and your willingness to help those in need.

Tip of the Month Don't want to drag along a heavy book - if you have
purchased the book, it is legal for you to make a copy
to use for yourself. You may want to copy it a bit
larger so it is easier to read, but most of all it is
convenient and easy to carry.
Question of the Month
How do I put beads on yarn if I don't have a needle? Put a little bit of clear nail polish on the end of the
yarn – this makes the yarn stiff so it is easier to
thread the beads and helps if you don't have a needle
handy.
